Needless to say that there are lots of cafes in Cambridge.You have the big chains like Starbucks, Caffe Nero and Costa battling it out. You also have quite a few independents. If you are really into your coffee there is only one place to go ( update not any more...see my review on Massaro's, thanks for the tip Barny), and that is Savino's.
It is easily missed as it is on Emmanuel Street, often obscured by buses waiting for Park and Ride customers. So the location is not the most appealing. But this small cafe is pretty much Little Italy in Cambridge.
I have an Italian friend who swears by the place. He really knows his beans and will not drink coffee anywhere else.
Verdict
Serious coffee, served by serious Italians. No messing around, this is the real deal.

Give Massaros on Regent Street a try. Since finding it a couple of months ago I am a convert. Easily the best coffees in Cambridge not quite as good as how I make it at home though!
